The Morgan Opera House is pleased to welcome the Finger Lakes Chamber Ensemble for what has become a lovely annual event on a Sunday afternoon in early fall—a small-group chamber concert in the bright, acoustically vibrant space of the opera house.
The Finger Lakes Chamber ensemble has been making good on its pledge to bring the classical chamber repertoire to this area for twenty-five years this year. They have also championed the work of new composers, some of it commissioned. For this year’s concert at the Opera House, the group will consist of Janet Sung, violin, Roberta Crawford, viola, Stefan Reuss, cello, and guest artist Barry Crawford, flute. Apart from Beethoven duos for violin and cello, the emphasis will be on flute, with a duo by the 18th c. French composer Francois Devienne for flute and viola, a Beethoven serenade for flute, violin and viola, and Mozart’s flute quartet in D major, K.285.
The concert is at 4 PM on Sunday, October 9 at the Opera House, which is located upstairs in the Aurora Free Library building in the center of Aurora. Tickets are $15 general admission, available at the door, with students admitted free in keeping with the regular practice of the Chamber Ensemble to encourage young people’s exposure to this wonderful music.
