Paul Brady is this year’s Zabriskie Folk Series artist, and we are honored to have him. Born and raised in Strabane, Northern Ireland, on the border of the Irish Republic, he sang with the transformative band Planxty in the Seventies before going solo and establishing himself as a songwriter of the highest order, whose songs have been recorded by Bonnie Raitt, Tina Turner, Mary Black, Carole King, John Prine, Trisha Yearwood, Dave Edmunds and many others. His most recent recording features performances with Mark Knopfler, Sinéad O’Connor, Van Morrison, Bonnie Raitt, Mary Black, Maura O’Connell and others. He is a compelling and personable performer. This is what some people you know have to say about him:
“Probably the best melody writer I can think of.” -Bonnie Raitt.
“Some guys got it down, Leonard Cohen, Paul Brady, Lou Reed, secret heroes.” -Bob Dylan
“The iron fist in the velvet glove of Irish Music.” -Bono
Tickets for Paul Brady are $20 ($17 for seniors and students) and are available via PayPal at our website, www.morganoperahouse.org.
