The Zabriskie Folk Art Series

Jay Ungar and Molly Mason, one of the most celebrated duos on
the American acoustic music scene, will take the stage at Aurora's historic Morgan
Opera House on Saturday, March 18, at 8:00 p.m. The Zabriskie Series event for
this year, their Appalachian, Cajun and Celtic fiddle tunes, stirring Civil War
classics, stunning waltzes, and original compositions embody the heart and soul
of American roots music. Noted for their appearances on Prairie Home Companion
and the soundtrack for Ken Burns' The Civil War, the Opera House is proud to open
our 2006 season with these great performers.

A sampling of three Wells College singing groups,
two of which are more than thirty years old, perform a capella renditions
of golden oldies, show tunes, and gospel favorites. Join Henry’s VIII,
Whirligigs, and Appointed as they take their collective show on the road.

The Bottom Feeders, an Aurora institution, had
its beginnings as the house band for the Opera House. Their music is
resolute, joyful and ripe for picking in any season. For their fifth
theme show the Bottom Feeders wish Bob Dylan a happy 65th birthday --
on the very day of the event -- with a program of favorites and
obscurities, old and new, all from the Dylan catalog.

Award-winning songwriter and recording artist
Billy Montana has a reputation for tapping into powerful emotions in
his songs. Country Weekly described his music as "A common man’s
wisdom voiced in an uncommon manner." Now living in Nashville,
Montana draws heavily on his rural New York background for inspiration,
resulting in music that is refreshingly eloquent, simple and honest.

Dundee High School Steel Drum Band

Bring a picnic and a blanket or a chair and enjoy
the powerful sounds of this talented group, soon to be touring Europe.
Their music ranges from classical to calypso, Sousa to Sondheim, and
more. Stroll among the performers to see what really turns barrels into
instruments. In case of rain, the event will take place in the Opera House.

Led by an experienced director, aspiring thespians
from ages 6 through 15 will experience 5 weeks of instruction in many
aspects of theater production. Rehearsals begin the morning of July 5th
and culminate the weekend of August 5-6. There will be a fee for participation

Join us at the Annual Teddy Bears’ Picnic with local puppeteer
Dawn Jordan. Dawn has been making marionettes and putting on shows from age eleven.
She will be performing The Dragon of Umshire. Bring your favorite bear, a picnic lunch,

Aurora Free Library

The Hunley was the first submarine in history to sink an
enemy warship. It has been found, raised from the ocean floor, and now provides
insight into and raises questions about this significant event of the Civil War.
Novelist Patricia Cornwell is planning to use her forensic knowledge to help solve
the mystery of how and why it went down.

Hear the songs of the Ukraine faithfully performed with voice
and bandura, the national instrument of Ukraine. Keeping alive the music and traditions
of their European ancestors, this group of young Ukrainian-Americans will enchant you
with folk songs and songs of patriotism.

In 1989 Gloria Ann Barnell Peter wrote and directed a
play to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the writing of the United States
Constitution. To initiate a Playwright Competition in her memory, there will
be a screening of that play at the Opera House. Many prominent Aurorites will
be seen in starring roles.

Songs, recitations, a few selections from the Morgan Tabernacle Choir, and a
special guest appearance of "Phyllis Diller" will be among the wonders
of this benefit evening for the Morgan Opera House. Come and enjoy a veritable
potpourri of your talented friends and neighbors.

will read from her new book, And That’s
the Way of It: A Maine Village Life, and talk
about the process of writing this creative
non-fiction documentary that grew out of
her work as an ethnographer.
