The Unfortunates

Photo of Erica Steinhagen

Adults $10, Seniors $8, Students $5

Directed by Bruce Levitt and Starring Erica Steinhagen, Written by Aoise Stratford, “The Unfortunates” is an intimate ghost story set in the London of Jack the Ripper. Mary Jane Kelly is behind on her rent, her window is broken, she’s lost her key, and her boyfriend has just moved out. It’s 1888 - not a good time to be poor and "unfortunate" on the streets of London. This winning submission from the sixth Gloria Ann Barnell Peter Playwright Competition promises insight, intrigue and irony.

Bottom Feeders: "Time"

Photo of The Bottom Feeders

Adults $8, Seniors $6, Students/Children $4

Spend a sublime evening exploring the musical variations of "Time." The Bottom Feeders, an Aurora institution whose existence exactly coincides with the restoration of the Morgan Opera House, present the seventh of their unique theme shows. This time, the subject is time: songs about due time, no time, good times, hard times, yesterday and tomorrow, centuries, years, hours and seconds. The event is timed to coincide with the six- month mark before the Mayan calendar expires in December. Eager as ever to entertain you with their folky acoustic style, the band members invite you to bring your watch, hourglass, or sundial to mark the Summer Solstice.

Adults $12, Seniors $10, Students/Children $8

Central New York acoustic guitar sensation Loren Barrigar and New Zealand star Mark Mazengarb were instantly aware that musical magic was created the first time they played guitar together. Influenced by the sounds of Bluegrass, Jazz and Country, and inspired by the finger-picking guitar techniques of Jerry Reed and Chet Atkins, their performances are unique, exciting, and not-to-be-missed events. Since they first met, great things have been happening, including a SAMMY (Syracuse Area Music Award) for best album, a European concert tour, and a headlining appearance at the Chet Atkins Festival in Nashville.

Klezmer Kings

Photo of Klezmer Kings

Adults $7, Seniors/Students/Children $5

Once again the Opera House will reverberate to the beat of the Klezmer Kings, Cayuga County’s premier klezmer band. Klezmorim, both local and imported, will perform the emotive tunes of love, joy and sadness, born in the folk traditions of Eastern European immigrants and reinterpreted in America by such as Bernstein, Gershwin and Copeland. Clap, dance or just tap your toes, but be sure to revel in the lively, lilting, or longing cadences. A benefit for the Morgan Opera House sponsored by Lifespan Therapies of King Ferry and Moravia.
